Grab your friends and tackle the WHOLE Boise River Greenbelt in one day, then celebrate together at the finish line.
THE ONLY ROAD RELAY IN THE TREASURE VALLEY
Boise's only road relay goes all the way around the Greenbelt.
The Boise Greenbelt Relays is the ONLY road relay in the Treasure Valley, and it's built around one big idea: you and your friends run the entire 45-mile loop of the Boise River Greenbelt together. One runner heads out at 8:00 AM, hands off at the first transition zone, and then cheers from the car while the next teammate takes over. Teams show up in costumes and matching shirts, and the cowbells start early. By the end of the day, everyone is back at the finish swapping stories about their leg and celebrating the miles they covered as a team.

HOW YOU CAN RUN IT: Solo, or on a team of 2, 4, or 6 to 7 runners
THE LOOP: A 45-mile loop for relay teams and a full 50 miles for solo runners. The 2026 relay legs ran from 5.3 to 8.26 miles each.
START AND CUTOFF: 8:00 AM start in 2026, and the course closes at sunset, as required by the city
AT EVERY TRANSITION ZONE: Aid, bathrooms, and parking
PACKET PICKUP: Before race day ONLY, at Fleet Feet Boise, Meridian, or Nampa during race week. Someone from your team must pick up in person. There is no race morning pickup, and there are no exceptions.
Run the WHOLE Greenbelt in one day
Seven legs link Ann Morrison, Eagle, Lucky Peak, and Barber Park into one 45-mile loop along the river. Most runners have never seen the whole Greenbelt in a single day, and that's exactly the point.
Divide and conquer with your favorite people
Your team decides who runs each leg, so the friend who loves long miles can take the 8.26-mile leg while everyone else picks their favorite stretch. You'll run your leg hard and then spend the rest of the day cheering your teammates through theirs.
Stay for the party at the finish
The last leg brings everyone home to the finish, where the celebration is waiting. In 2026, the finish at Ann Morrison Park had food trucks and a beer garden, and plenty of teams stayed for hours. We'll have food and drinks waiting for you at the 2027 finish too.
THE COURSE
West to Eagle, east to Lucky Peak, and home along the river.
The 2027 start and finish are still being set, so the route below is our 2026 course. We're sharing it so you can see what your team's legs will look like, and the 2027 legs will be close to these distances.
In 2026, the day started at Ann Morrison Park in the heart of Boise. Leg 1 heads west along the river toward Garden City, and by the end of Leg 2 your team has reached Reid Merrill Park in Eagle. From there the loop turns back east, past Willow Lane and Marianne Williams Park, all the way out to Sandy Point at the foot of Lucky Peak Dam. The last two legs follow the river home through Barber Park and finish right back where you started, where the party is waiting.
Spring on the Greenbelt can bring construction and flooding, so the course is subject to change. We'll always tell you about any changes, and the course will be clearly marked. Most of the route is on the Greenbelt itself, with traffic control, flaggers, course marking, and volunteers keeping you safe. No roadway is fully closed, though, so please use shoulders and sidewalks where you can, follow every signalized crossing, and only cross the street when it's safe.

Leg 1: Ann Morrison Park. 5.3 miles, with 5.3 miles total. Parking
Leg 2: Glenwood and Marigold. 5.8 miles, with 11.1 miles total. Parking
Leg 3: Reid Merrill Park. 6.82 miles, with 17.92 miles total. Parking
Leg 4: Willow Lane Athletic Complex. 8.26 miles, with 26.18 miles total. Parking
Leg 5: Marianne Williams Park. 6.62 miles, with 32.8 miles total. Parking
Leg 6: Lucky Peak, Sandy Point Unit. 6.3 miles, with 39.1 miles total. Parking
Leg 7: Barber Park. 5.9 miles, with 45 miles total. Parking

These are the 2026 legs. The 2027 start, finish, and transition zones are subject to change, but each leg will be close to these distances, and we'll share the final 2027 course here as soon as it's set.
RACE WEEK
From packet pickup to the party at the finish.
Relays have a few more moving pieces than a typical road race, so race week starts a few days early. Here's what it looked like in 2026, and we'll send every 2027 time and team instruction by email in the weeks before the race.
Packet pickup, before race day only: We'll have packet pickup at all three Fleet Feet Treasure Valley stores in Boise, Meridian, and Nampa throughout race week, and we'll share the exact days and times in race week emails. Someone from your team must come to a store pickup before race day. There is NO packet pickup on race morning, and there are no exceptions. A relay has too many moving pieces for us to hand out packets at the start.
Choose your legs: Your team decides who runs each leg, and we MUST have your full lineup when you pick up your packet. We use it to time every leg and keep every runner safe on the course, so please settle it with your team before you come in.
8:00 AM: The race starts, and Leg 1 heads out along the river.
All day on the Greenbelt: Each runner hands the timing chip to the next teammate inside the transition zone. That handoff keeps your results accurate and lets us track every runner safely. Every transition zone has parking, bathrooms, and an aid station with Tailwind Hydration Mix, gels, chews, and snacks.
The finish line party: Your whole team comes home to the finish to celebrate. In 2026, food trucks and a beer garden were waiting at Ann Morrison Park, and we'll have something just as good in 2027. It's our favorite part of the day.
Sunset: The course closes at sunset on Saturday, April 24, as required by the city. We'll share the exact closing time in race week emails, so your team can plan its pace.
TEAMS
Divide and conquer, or take on the WHOLE loop solo.
You can run the Boise Greenbelt Relays solo, or split the loop with a team of 2, 4, or 6 to 7 runners. A team of 6 or 7 shares the seven legs, so most runners take one leg and spend the rest of the day driving to the next transition zone to cheer. Smaller teams take on more miles each, and our solo runners tackle a full 50 miles on their own.
Our aid stations are stocked for a long day, so please take only what you need during your leg. That way, our solo ultrarunners have plenty of fuel when they come through later in the day.

That's up to your team, and we love hearing how teams decide. The one thing we need is your full lineup, with every runner matched to a leg, by the time you pick up your packet. We can't hand out your packet without it, because the lineup is how we time each leg and keep track of every runner on the course.

Every transition zone has bathrooms or porta-potties, and there are more porta-potties along the course. The City of Boise also keeps a list of heated park restrooms along the Greenbelt.

It could. Spring construction and flooding sometimes affect the Greenbelt, so we'll always let you know about any changes, and the course will be clearly marked on race day.
