WHY WE LOVE THIS DAY
Idaho running, all in one place.
Every October, first timers, run clubs, and runners chasing a Boston time line up together at Sandy Point. Some are running their first 5K. Some are running their tenth marathon. By late morning, everyone ends up in the same place: at the finish line, medal on, swapping stories with friends and cheering in the last runners.

Our 26.2 is a certified Boston qualifying course along the Boise River, on a cool October morning that was made for a fast race.
Four distances, one party
Pick the 5K, 10K, 13.1, or 26.2. Every finisher earns a medal designed by our own team and a seat at the finish line party.
Bring the whole club
Run clubs fill the start line every year, and the clubs that show up in the biggest numbers go home with a check.
THE COURSES
Canyon walls, river miles, and October color.
Your morning starts at Sandy Point, right at the foot of Lucky Peak Dam, where the Boise River rolls out of the canyon. As the sun comes up over the hills, you head west on the Greenbelt with rocky canyon walls rising beside you and the cottonwoods along the river turning gold. Then you turn for home, follow the river back to Sandy Point, and finish right where the party is waiting.
You will find aid stations every 2 to 3 miles on the 10K, 13.1, and 26.2.

RACE WEEKEND
From shakeout run to finish line party.
Idaho Running Day starts a few days early and ends with a celebration. Here is what race weekend looked like in 2026, and we will confirm every 2027 time in race week emails.
Race week packet pickup
Grab your bib, shirt, and gear drop tag at Fleet Feet Treasure Valley in Nampa, Meridian, or Boise.
The pre-race shakeout run
Loosen up your legs with us, our sponsors, and our partners at the Thursday shakeout run at Fleet Feet Boise. It is the moment race weekend really starts, and a great chance to meet the people you will be running beside on Saturday.
Race morning parking
Park at Sandy Point for $7 cash per vehicle, or free with an Idaho State Parks Passport. You can also add the free park and ride shuttle from the Idaho Shakespeare Festival lot to your registration.
8:00 AM
The 26.2 and 13.1 runners head out first.
9:00 AM
The 10K and 5K runners follow.
The finish line party
Collect your medal, find your people, and grab something from the local food trucks at the finish. Stick around to cheer in the marathoners. It is our favorite part of the day.
3:00 PM
The course closes, and the last gear drop bags go home.
RUN CLUBS
Bring the whole club.
Run clubs are the heart of Idaho Running Day, so we give back to them directly. In 2026, the club with the most sign ups took home a $250 check, and every club with more than 10 racers or volunteers took home $150.
Racers and volunteers both count toward your club total.
Clubs with more than 10 people signed up by the early deadline get free booth space at the finish festival.

VOLUNTEER
Be part of the day without running a step.
Our volunteers staff the aid stations, cheer runners home, and make the finish line feel like a party. Volunteer sign up opens with registration, and groups of five or more earn $25 per volunteer for the organization of their choice through our GIVEBACK program. Yes. The 26.2 is a certified Boston qualifying course, and the 13.1 course is certified as well.

In 2026, distance changes and bib transfers were free until a deadline the week before the race. We will share the 2027 deadline in race week emails.
